African Bloodlines Incorporated started to merge science and activism for African American communities. Through the observations of its founding members, these scientists noticed the gaps in research and care created a prevalence of disease in our communities. Their goal was to become change agents using these two avenues: genetic testing and community engagement. Genetics Rationale/ Genetics Change Agent: By increasing the numbers of African Diasporic communities in genetic research databases, we are able to gather more information to create more personalized treatment options for current health outcomes. Community Engagement allows us to create a reciprocal relationship with the participating communities; it creates an avenue for education for the public and our research team.
